Posts are part of the date-organized stream of post that you see on several blogs archive page. Also, posts can be assigned to categories or tags while pages cannot be assigned categories or tags. Another thing you should know about posts is that, usually, posts cannot be hierarchical but pages can have sub-page and parent page, meaning that a page can have sub-posts (i.e a page can have a parent page) e.g “About us”can have a sub-page named “Our Policy”. Posts cannot have individual templates and you cannot find posts in the RSS feed of a site.

Posts are relevant by default to every WordPress site be it. Every WordPress site must have at least one post. Why should you have a page(s) on your Website? Now to the main purpose of this post, which is to learn how to create post in WordPress

Before you can have the right permission to create to posts in WordPress, you must have access to the dashboard of your WordPress powered site i.e your WordPress Admin backend. And again, you must have all the at least an editor’s privilege.

Step 1: Login to the WordPress Dashboard

Step 2a: Hover your mouse to Posts in the Backend Menu

Step 2b: Click on Add new posts

The WordPress page editor looks a lot similar to the page editor except for the boxes at the right-hand side of the screen

Step 3: Enter your post title. This is usually the heading that a user sees before clicking to read the entire content

Step 4: Add your desired content in the editor, don’t forget to put write-ups, images, infographics, video (advice you embed from YouTube or any other websites, don’t upload videos on WordPress, it will slow down your site)

Step 5: Select the right category you post to belong to or create a new category for the post using the category section at the right-hand side

Step 6: Remember to input all the necessary keywords into the tag section just under the category section at the right-hand side

Step 7: Featured image is also a part of WordPress post that should not be played down. Add the necessary image using this section. Click the Set Featured Image link and add your image

Step 8: Click the preview, this will open another tab or window (as the case may be) in your browser, letting you see how the page will look like after publishing, this will help you correct whatever mistake you might have on your page before finally publishing it

Step 9: Click publish if what you see in the preview mode suites your desire.
